It has been an exciting 2017 thus far here at Greenback, and we are so thrilled to share that we’ve been officially shortlisted for two of the Forum for Expatriate Management’s American EMMA Awards! Our 2016 US Expat Opinion Survey led to our selection for “Thought Leadership – Best Survey or Research Study of the Year” and we were also shortlisted for the prestigious “Tax Provider of the Year” award!
What’s Happening at Greenback This Year
We’re only three months in to the New Year, but already, we’ve reached some exciting milestones – none of which would be possible without our wonderful expat customers!
- We’ve been able to grow our accountant team to 30 strong, including two United Kingdom Chartered Accountants and a Canadian accountant, which allows us to provide services specific to the filing requirements in those countries, in addition to US Tax Return
- Our accountant team is filled with a wealth of knowledge that can be applied to each of our customers’ individual tax needs. Currently, 11 of our accountants are IRS Enrolled Agents, 17 are Certified Public Accountants, 13 have Masters Degrees – and one even has a JD! Learn more about our team here.
- The team currently represents 6 continents, 12 countries and 15 US states – having firsthand experience with traveling and living abroad means the team truly understands the ins and outs and challenges that US expats face on a daily basis. We’ve created a US expat tax guide that highlights some of these challenges and things expats should know.
- Since our inception in 2009, we’ve prepared 18,000+ expat tax returns for 8,000+ US expats in over 211 countries and territories!
More About Our 2016 US Expat Opinion Survey
Our most recent annual survey was held March – May 2016, and its purpose is to uncover the sentiments of Americans living abroad when it comes to US expat taxes, renouncing citizenship, government representation and more. In particular, last year’s survey touched on the presidential election, as it shaped up to be a very divisive event that could have big implications on the 9 million Americans living abroad.
Over 1,800 US expat responders completed the survey, and we gained some very insightful information – with a common theme highlighting that this group has continued to feel very underrepresented by the US government and that fact could have a huge impact on the 2016 election.
We’re very excited that the Forum for Expatriate Management recognized the significance of the outcome of our 2016 survey, and we are flattered to be shortlisted among top companies like Cartus Corporation, IKG Global Consultants, LLC, International SOS and more, for the opportunity to be recognized for this exceptional award.
The EMMAs are the global professional’s equivalent of the Oscars, and their purpose is to recognize outstanding achievement in advancing global mobility. Winners are selected based on their ability to make it easier for expats and organizations to attain global mobility.
We’re proud to have been selected as the European EMMA 2015 Tax Provider of the Year and runner-up for Tax Provider of the Year in 2013 and 2014 – and we are thrilled to be recognized once again as a company whose services make a difference in the lives of the more than 9 million Americans living abroad! We look forward to the awards gala, which will be held on May 4, 2017 in Denver, Colorado as part of the FEM Americas Summit.
We’d like to sincerely thank the EMMA committee for shortlisting us for both the “Tax Provider of the Year” and “Thought Leadership” awards, and we also congratulate our fellow shortlisted candidates for their hard work making a difference in the lives of expats around the world!
