If I need to file an extension, what is the deadline?

The extension deadline corresponds to your tax deadline.

If you are resident in the U.S, your extension deadline is April 15th to push your tax return deadline to October 15th. On the other hand, if you are an expatriate, you get an automatic extension to June 15th to file your tax returns. If you need more time and would like to file by October 15th, you will need to file a your extension request by June 15th.

*If the 15th falls on a weekend, then the due date becomes the first business day of the following week.
