Can Greenback E-File My U.S. Tax Return on My Behalf?

Yes. Greenback e-files your U.S. federal tax return directly with the IRS in nearly all cases, so you don’t have to print, sign, and mail anything yourself. Once your draft is reviewed and approved, and your invoice is paid, your accountant submits the return electronically, and you receive IRS acceptance confirmation through your portal.

A small number of returns can’t be e-filed and have to be paper-filed.

The most common paper-filing situations:

  • Forms not yet enabled: Returns claiming certain forms the IRS hasn’t enabled for e-filing in a given year
  • Identity verification holds: Returns requiring a wet signature
  • Older prior-year returns: Outside the IRS e-file window (typically the current year and two prior)
  • Older amendments: Amended returns for tax years that fall outside the e-file window

If your return falls into one of those scenarios, your accountant will let you know in advance and walk you through what to expect (including how the paper-filing process works).
