Allen Pfeister is a licensed CPA and the technical reviewer for Greenback’s expat tax guides. Every guide on this site passes through his review before publication, where he checks the figures, thresholds, deadlines, form references, and treaty positions against primary IRS and Treasury sources. Where a guide reads well but oversimplifies, he is the person who catches it.

He is a U.S. expat himself, based in Colombia, so the filing questions he reviews are ones he lives with. His expertise spans expat and small-business tax: the exit tax and the expatriation rules under Section 877A, partnership and corporate returns, the foreign tax credit, and the reporting that comes with owning a business abroad.

He holds a B.S. in Accounting and Finance from Louisiana State University and an MBA from the University of New Orleans.
