Can Greenback E-File My Tax Return?
Yes, in most cases, Greenback can e-file your US tax return directly with the IRS on your behalf.
Our goal is to make filing as easy and secure as possible, and e-filing is the default method for the majority of expat clients.
When E-Filing May Not Be Available
There are some situations where the IRS does not allow electronic filing, including:
- Filing multiple prior-year tax returns at once
- Filing under the Streamlined Filing Compliance Procedures
- Submitting certain specialized forms that require paper filing
- When the IRS e-file system is temporarily unavailable (typically during year-end maintenance or early January system updates)
In these cases, your Greenback accountant will:
- Prepare a complete paper return
- Provide detailed instructions for printing, signing, and mailing your return to the IRS
We’ll always notify you if your return must be filed by mail, and ensure everything is prepared correctly and on time.
