How Do I Find My Routing Number?
Your routing number is a 9-digit number used to identify your bank or credit union within the US banking system. You can find it on a personal check by looking at the numbers printed along the bottom.
Here’s how to read them:
- First group of numbers – This is your routing number
- Second group – Your account number
- Third group – The check number

If you don’t have a checkbook, you can usually find your routing number by:
- Logging into your online banking portal
- Checking your bank’s website (most list routing numbers by state)
- Calling your bank’s customer service line
Note for expats: If you’re using a non-US bank account, it will not have a US routing number. In that case, you may need to provide an IBAN or SWIFT/BIC code for international transactions. Your bank can confirm the appropriate details.
If you haven’t registered yet, just click the “Get Started” button in the top right corner of your screen to jump right in!
